Politicians should take caution-CAN

Amid the controversies surroundling the postponement of the general elections, the Enugu state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has urged politicians to desist from worrisome and inflammatory statements.

The state CAN chairman, Right Reverend Christian Obiefuna, in his message called on politicians and their supporters to avoid every form of violence in the overall interests of the country, Nigerian Tribune reports.
He said: “I encourage all to play the game according to the rule. Maiming and killing or destruction of lives and property will not solve any problem;
The politicians were further charged to place service to the country above themselves.
The association held a one-day prayer rally at the Christ Apostolic Church, Idaw-River, Enugu.
The prayer rally which was held at the weekend was attended by all the blocs of CAN in Enugu State.
Obiefuna urged Nigerians to devote more time to prayers to God, saying God would help the country navigate through every storm.
We must continue in prayers. Prayer is the key; the Bible says we should watch and pray. Note that we are battling against principalities in high and low places.
“I urge those who have not collected their voter cards to do so; come out at the rescheduled date to exercise your franchise; vote and wait to see that your vote is counted.
“We are not partisan, but we are under the political system as stakeholders,” he stated.
The shift in the election dates shocked Nigerian society. There have been a variety of reactions from both the Nigerian and international community.
