Blake Griffin out for at least three weeks

The Los Angeles Clippers will be without Blake Griffin until at least the start of March.

The All-Star forward underwent successful surgery to remove a staph infection from his right elbow on Monday, the team announced.

Doctors will re-evaluate Griffin in three weeks to evaluate his progress and determine when he can return to the floor.

The original diagnosis called for examination after four weeks.

Griffin, 25, is averaging 22.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.1 assists this season.
