The wife of Huauyan, told investigators that she kept 86-year-old Pablo Tamariz Coraquillo locked up for his own safety as he ran away several times.Police officers who raided the home after receiving a tip off from a neighbor, found the old man weak and confused. Neighbors said that they occasionally asked the wife about her husband, and she said that he is in the garage.
She said that he was trying to escape, and she decided that the best way to keep him home was to lock him up in the garage. Police said that the old man was very weak and slightly embarrassed to see them.
He has been taken to a hospital, and officials are trying to arrange proper housing for him.
