Football star David Beckham has thanked his wife Victoria for an "amazing" birthday, and shared the most adorable selfie we've seen all day.

The retired footballer celebrated his 40th birthday with an extravagant party at a six-star resort just outside Marrakech in Morocco, and gushed on Instagram about his "beautiful" spouse.

He wrote: "Thanks to my beautiful wife for such an amazing day x (sic)."

David - who has already amassed almost 3 million followers on Instagram since he launched his account this morning - also invited a host of celebrity friends to join him for the £250,000 milestone bash, with television chef Gordon Ramsay and The Incredible Hulk actress Liv Tyler in attendance.
