One of the biggest and richest model the world has ever produced Gisele Bündchen has officially retired from the runway, bowing out in true supermodel style at Sao Paulo fashion week last night.
Never again will we see the 34 year-old Brazilian beauty work her trademark fierce stomp on the catwalk (but surely she’ll pop back for a cameo every now and again?!) Read more &See pics after d cut.....
‘I am grateful that at 14, I was given the opportunity to start this journey,’ the Victoria’s Secret veteran said on her Instagram, while sharing a fresh-faced snap of her from the very beginning of her career. ‘Today after 20 years in the industry, it is a privilege to be doing my last fashion show by choice and yet still be working in other facets of the business. #firstrunway #14yearsold’
Discovered by an Elite model agent at a Sao Paulo shopping centre in 1994, Gisele led the late nineties’ love for Amazonian beauties, heralding the return of the sexy model after years of our favourite waifish girls (Mossy and co) leading the fashion world. Her big break in Europe came courtesy of Alexander McQueen, who dubbed her ‘the body’ after she walked in his spring 1998 show and she’s since lent her looks to every major fashion brand on the planet.
From Chanel to H&M, Louis Vuitton to Victoria’s Secret, Gisele has worked with ‘em all, building her own empire of fashion collaborations and product licenses in the process. Hands down, she is one of the most successful (and richest) supermodels ever.
‘Congratulations Love of my Life,’ Gisele’s husband, American football player Tom Brady posted on Facebook. ‘You inspire me every day to be a better person. I am so proud of you and everything you have accomplished on the runway.’
‘Nobody loves life more then you and your beauty runs much deeper then what the eye can see. I can't wait to see what's next.’
