Barely 24 hours to the governorship election in Abia State, thugs suspected to be advancing the interests of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have being going around the state threatening residents who intend to vote any other party showing up at their polling unit tomorrow could be deadly, residents are saying.
Residents who put numerous calls to The City Reporters, Friday, said the thug warned them to stay home all day tomorrow in order to avert bloodshed.
“They told us not to come out tomorrow if we won’t be voting the PDP,” a caller said.
Most of the calls and text messages came from Umuana, Ndune, and Isieke in Umuahia North area of Abia State. We also received text messages from Onokoro, Isiana Ngwa, and Obingwa area of the state.
We urge the police to investigate the threats and reassure voters of their security.
