Ban On Olusegun Obasanjo’s Autobiography Lifted, Now That GEJ Lost Elections

The same court that ordered law enforcement agencies in December 2014 to confiscate copies of former president Olusegun Obasanjo‘s autobiography My Watch, has lifted the injunction barring it’s sale.

On Tuesday April 14 2015,Justice Valentine Ashi of The Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja lifted the injunction barring former President Olusegun Obasanjo from publishing his autobiography, My Watch.

The controversial autobiography was launched in Lagos on December 9, 2014, shortly after it was banned. The three volume book was reported to have been banned because of OBJ’s scathing remarks about outgoing president – Goodluck Jonathan.

In the book, he describes GEJ as “lacking in broad vision, knowledge, confidence, understanding, concentration, capacity, sense of security, courage, moral and ethical principles, character and passion to move the nation forward on a fast trajectory”. He also described GEJ’s administration as being very corrupt. He wrote,

In the area of corruption, we have been going back steadily from the inception of Yar’Adua’s administration when the ‘hunter’ became the ‘hunted’. But under Jonathan we seem to have gone from frying pan to fire. If in the past corruption was in the corridors of power, it would seem now to be in the sitting room, dining room and bedroom of power.
