A new mother has died before getting to hold her twins, just 48 hours after giving birth to them.
Sophie Burgess, 19, gave birth to twins Evie and Oliver eight weeks prematurely and was immediately transferred to another department due to complications.
It was discovered that she had contracted septicaemia and her condition deteriorated before she died just 48 hours later.
Her older brother Craig paid tribute to her today, saying she was a wonderful sister who loved life and lived every minute to the full.
"I honestly cannot begin to describe Sophie, she was full of life. She loved music and went all over the country seeing the bands she loved.
"She could not wait to become a mother and as a family we will make sure her babies never forget her. They are her legacy now."
Sophie, from Telford, Shropshire, started to feel cramps so she and her partner Alex went to the town's Princes Royal Hospital before being transferred to Wolverhampton's New Cross Hospital.
Both babies were born eight weeks prematurely. Oliver was born naturally and Evie by Caesarean section.
