Nigeria’s economy in terrible shape –Osinbajo

Vice presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has said the economy of the country is in a state of emergency.
He said this yesterday in Lagos during the presentation of a book, “Opposition Political Parties and Democratisation in Africa.”

Osinbajo, who was represented by Mr. Bimbola Ojenike, said the economy of the country was in a precarious situation and needed to be salvaged.
“This is a country where billions of dollars will mysteriously get missing and no one says anything about it. Our economy is in a bad shape and that is why we need a credible alternative.
“In this election, we are beginning to see change. Apart from elections, we can see how the wind of change is affecting the government of the day. The wind of change is blowing and things are changing.
“This election is very important for Nigeria and this book we are presenting today is on how to make change possible,” he said.
Editor of the book, Gabriel Adeola, said the intellectual work came at the right time in the growth of democracy in Africa.
“This fear of belonging to the opposition political party is nothing but ignorance on the part of our politicians and even the citizens who have not realised that an opposition political party is a government in waiting and that its presence guarantees stability and the rule of the game in a democratic setting.
“This book has come at the right time in the growth of democratic dispensation in Africa to really put in perspective the place and role of opposition political parties in the political stability and democratic consolidation in Africa,” Adeola said.
