Nigeria’s U-20 male national team, Flying Eagles were involved in a
minor accident on return to their hotel after defeating the Black
Satellites of Ghana in Wednesday’s international friendly at the Tema
Sports Complex.
Flying Eagles’ Usman Hassan Saleh was the only one injured during the accident.
The
Flying Eagles had defeated the Ghana U20 team 2-0 in an international
friendly and were returning to their M Plaza Hotel residence when the
VIP Marcopolo bus conveying the team crashed into the main gate of the
stadium.
The players were discussing the outcome of the game when
they heard a loud noise and the right screen of the shuttle was
shattered.
There were no serious causalities,except Saleh who was
hit by the broken glass that got into his eyes and had to be attended to
by team doctors and some concerned Ghanaians. Fifteen minutes after the
incident, the team left for their hotel.
The team returned to the country on Thursday to continue its preparations for the 2015 African Youth Championship in Senegal.
